How Are Immersion Groups Different Than LifeGroups?
Immersion Groups are intentional groups whose sole purpose is spiritual growth in a long-term committed environment. Even though spiritual growth can be attained through many group types, those seeking a long-term, safe place to be wholly accountable may prefer an Immersion Group over a LifeGroup. An Immersion group has the following characteristics:

• The members of the group make a 12-month commitment to each other (after a 6-week trial period). This offers predictability and trust where accountability and support are offered.

• The group may choose to renew their 12-month commitment, however after 24 months we ask that the group disperse and create new groups or become leaders. While remaining with those who make us comfortable seems best, having fresh perspectives and insights offered by new people increases our spiritual growth.

• Curriculum and a matching schedule are chosen from a pre-approved list and are expected to be an ingredient of the group. This offers consistency for those unsure of what to expect.

• The group size is limited to 12 people, making accountability and personal sharing an option.

There are three types of Immersion Groups offered at this time: Couples, Men’s and Women’s. The men’s and women’s can be mixed with single and married meeting together.

WHAT IF I WANT TO CHOOSE A CURRICULUM NOT ON THIS LIST?
There are many great books and study guides available, but those offered on our list we prefer for the Immersion Groups to use. We do this for two reasons: (1) We want Immersion Groups to be predictable, not only in whom they will be allowing into their lives, but the curriculum they will be studying, as many shop for the group based on this list offered (2) We know this curriculum well and feel it covers the issues in a way that we desire.
If you feel strongly about using different curriculum, we are willing to discuss it with you. Please come prepared with the following things:

1.100% agreement with the entire group about the suggested curriculum change

2.Why you feel your curriculum covers the subject better than the ones we have suggested

3.Please provide a copy of the curriculum you prefer and give us 2 weeks to review it for you.

4.The Gathering, as the entity of LifeGroups, reserves the right to object to any curriculum offered for any reason.
